A Lot Has Happened....
This week I am once again in the position of having to apologize for not updating my website in a period of time. It was nice to hear firefighters who contacted me, because it let me know that I was at least missed by some! After all it is rare that firefighters would tend to complain about anything but.....no wait that's not right, that might be a comment for another day!
Here is the story in the Cliff's Notes version for those who do not know what has been going on.
I have left the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy as the director and I am now back online where I belong back in the street as the Fire Chief in The Town of North Attleborough Massachusetts.
This is a career department in South eastern Mass (Bristol County) that protects some 25 +/- square miles and about 29,000 population. There is a large retail commercial district as well as an established downtown area with a standard variety of hazards.
I am blessed to have a great crew of folks to work with and it has been a positive experience for me....(Hey they might have different opinions, but let them get their own website!)
I started the job in February and am also in the process of relocating there so it has been just a tad crazy with the new job transition and the potential move.
OK enough whining and excuses if I am gonna be serious and write a website then I should fess up an do it no matte what happens.
So what else has happened....
I was able to get out to FDIC in Indy and had a great time, even bumped into a supported of this website from the West Cost Dr. Stan Anderson who presented at the conference with his son. I did not have much more time than to say Hi, but will now say thanks Stan for being a supporter of Fire Training at all levels!
FDIC had some interesting presentations as usual but one of the more memorable was a presentation on line of duty deaths and injuries and change as presented by Chief Billy Goldfeder. This included stuff from Keokuk Iowa, Gloucester City NJ, and a California wildfire death. I have a purpose in my new training efforts..... My new purpose is to try to minimize the stuff that Billy Goldfeder talks about. I am saying this tongue in cheek because he is a great guy and a friend but wouldn't it be nice if we could minimize the close calls and injuries. ( he would still talk about something, trust me!)
I am now back out teaching, and creating tests, and potentially doing a seminar event again shortly. If you are depressed and desperate and none of the really good high dollar speakers are available, give me a call.
I expect to be pretty regular with the website updates and I will be creating a link to the new NAFD website, currently under construction.
The website forms were acting crazy, so I have just created email links for now.
Just a short one to get back up and running, look forward to any and all input and as usual if you have something to say about a particular issue give us a yell and we will post it and see if we can network.
