Training Innovations & Ideas
This week I am asking for your ideas and specifics that you might training your department members in.
I am specifically looking for what you tell your members about using specific devices and tools that may be a little different from their normal use.
Here are some random thoughts and I would like to compile a list from as many sources as I can so that we can all benefit from one another.
The personal handlight or flashlight:
* What kind of light do you issue to each member. Is it the angle head type or standard straight type? Have you been trained to shine it up toward the ceiling if trapped or disoriented? Have you told the hydrant man to use it to signal the driver when water is coming? Have you modified it with reflexite so you can find it if dropped?
and many other uses not even thought of yet.......
The Light Box or larger handlight:
* Do you tell your personnel to drop one at the doorway you enter at floor level, shining inward so that it might be visible on the way out?
Placing scotchlite and reflexite on SCBA bottle themselves.....
Small $20 strobe lights attached to SCBA devices......
What uses do you have for tubular webbing.....
The halligan bar is being touted as an anchor point for emergency rappelling and escape and many other very creative ideas that need to be shared so all may benefit. Even if you don't agree with it, having a pool of good ideas to draw from is good for all of us.
Lets see what you are doing that someone else can benefit from.
