Some Troubling Questions...

I am asking some questions this week. Rather than make them rhetorical I would actually like some answers from those of you that choose to participate.

I have been doing lots of traveling and training lately and I am getting some answers in class that I am wondering if they are local issues or if there is something wide spread going on in the fire service.

If you choose to answer, just type some short answers into the comment form below, if you choose not to do that then use these as internal questions for your department or yourself as a matter of reflection. Answers will be summarized with no names or department given out, all answers will be confidential as that goes but I would like to review the info in a generalized manner.

What National fire department is your best role model and why? Who do your and your members choose to emulate?

What national speaker or firefighter do you believe serves as the best role model for your department or you? Why?

In the last year how many hours did you spend training outside of your department?

Did you attend any regional or national conference last year?

Last month how many minutes did you personally spend breathing air off an SCBA? Not just wearing but actually under air?

Why did 7,000 firefighters go to the national memorial service in Washington DC, that honored all line of duty deaths and why did 55,000 go to honor just the FDNY members themselves without the other 100 members?

What is the most heroic thing a firefighter can do?

Humor me, will you.....send me some answers or reflect upon these yourself. If I get enough responses I will answer these questions myself next week.

Stay tuned! Stay Safe!
