- Springtime
Well it's finally beginning to feel like springtime here
on the east coast. Flowers are blooming small buds are
beginning to appear on the tress and in general spring is
a time for renewal and growth.
-
- Let's use
this opportunity professionally to renew our passion for
the fire service like when we first got on the job and
were gung ho rookies and probies. Those were great times
and great feelings let's try that again!
-
- Let's use
this spring period to renew our training emphasis. Let's
get back into doing some training if we have not done
much for a while. If you are responsible for conducting
the training then think of it like baseball....spring
training! Those guys are professionals and play all year,
yet each spring they come forward and train all over
again.
-
- Speaking of
flowers blooming and growth, there is an axiom that says
if you are not growing and living, you are beginning to
die! How many of us have stopped growing personally and
professionally and decided that the "status
quo" is really the way to go. Challenge yourself,
challenge others and do your absolute best on the job
that you can. Challenging is hard work, complaining is
pretty easy! Don't take the easy way out.
-
- Take the
spring opportunity to plant new seeds of knowledge into a
young member. The time you spend nurturing the
information you plant will be well worth it, many years
from now. If the information and behaviors we plant are
negative ones instead of positive ones, than those will
grow as well.
-
- Use this
spring as a time for renewal in the fire service at
whatever level you serve at.
-
- You be
surprised at what can grow and blossom!
Stay safe and take care!
