Remembering The Vendome
This week's training bulletin is not about a tactical or a technical subject, but rather about a reflection of a historical subject.
June 17, 1972 was the fire at the Hotel Vendome in Boston Massachusetts where 9 members lost their lives.
I was just a youngster then whose interest was great in the fire service and I remember reading stories and news accounts of this terrible tragedy.
Since that time I have studied it in depth and even taught about the subject from my research.
I ask all of you to check the three links below, learn about this fire, and take some time this week of the anniversary to remember those that lost their lives.
To my friends in the Boston Fire Department, my thoughts are with you all as you remember this tragic loss to your department.
For the rest of us remember...."Lest we not forget"
